The right bolt for the Ravin R500E

The correct bolt length, nock and minimum grain weight for the Ravin R500E, and what stops a dry-fire.

Dry-fire warning

Crossbow bolt data and archery arrow spine, nock and thread data are quoted from each manufacturer's published figures, owner documentation and industry standards, cited on every page. A nock, spine or grain-weight mismatch can cause a dry-fire that damages the bow and can injure the shooter. Confirm against your own owner's manual and the arrow maker's own chart before shooting, and never drop below the stated minimum total weight.

The Ravin R500E uses a 21 in bolt with a Ravin R500 clip-on nock, minimum 400 gr total (300 gr shaft + 100 gr point). Buy the Ravin.003 R500-Series arrow with the R500 polymer nock.

Field notes

The R500E is the electronic-drive member of the R500 Series and shares its arrow. It uses the R500-specific arrow, about 21 inches with field point and nock, and the standard Ravin.003 arrow is not compatible.

The R500 and R500E take the R500-series arrow only. A standard Ravin.003 arrow is not an R500 arrow; mixing them voids the warranty on a 500-fps bow. Read the box.
