The right bolt for the Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR
The correct bolt length, nock and minimum grain weight for the Barnett Whitetail Hunter STR, and what stops a dry-fire.
Dry-fire warning
Bolt length, nock type and minimum grain weight are quoted from each manufacturer's published arrow data and owner documentation, cited on every page. A nock or grain-weight mismatch can cause a dry-fire that damages the bow and can injure the shooter. Confirm against your own owner's manual before shooting, and never drop below the stated minimum total grain weight.

The standard (non-Hyper) Whitetail Hunter STR ships with 20-inch Headhunter arrows on a half-moon nock. Barnett's own guidance recommends stepping up to a 22-inch arrow at 425 total grains with a 125-grain point for the least stress on the bow.
The half-moon nock must be indexed with the odd-coloured vane seated as the manual shows. Load it a quarter-turn off and the string can ride the rim of the groove and dry-fire the bow. This is a standard-nock bow, not a Hyper bow.
